In today's culture, people don't sing...they listen. And when they do sing, it is more like mumbling than singing. This is especially true in regard to the contemporary church. Strong, virile hymn singing has been replaced by what can only be called, "holy mumbling." Needless to say, it has been a great loss.
BUT, for you, as choir members, you do not have this problem, at least on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings. During the week, however, it is important that you sing strongly (make that loud) at least once each day. Again, if you are uncomfortable singing alone, sing along with one of our recordings. And you can vocalize on the simple exercises that we do each time.
Remember, sing at least medium loud (mf) once a day--and before you come to rehearsal on Thursday or the Sunday services. Your voice is like a muscle, it must be exercised regularly!
