The words to our hymn of the week, "Abide With Me," is based on Luke 24:29, the story of the two disciples met by Jesus on the road to Emmaus, "Abide with us, for it is toward evening and the day is far spent."
As you meditate on the words of this beautiful and thoughtful hymn, you can know that you are not alone, even in your darkest and most disappointing times. For Christ is with you. He is the help of the helpless. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. Even at death's door, you can sing with triumph, "Where is death's sting? Where grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me."
