The hymn tune SAGINA, to which we sing "And Can It Be", was written by Thomas Campbell, 1800 – 1876. There is no information available about him, other than that he published a book of twenty-three hymn tunes Bouquet in 1825. Some sources attribute SAGINA to Thomas Campbell, 1777-1844, the poet, but there is nothing to support this in any of his biographical information.
