"Alleluia! Sing to Jesus" is sung to the hymn tune HYFRYDOL, written by Rowland Huw Prichard. Prichard was born in 1811, in Graienyn near Bala, in North Wales. His grandfather was Rowland Huw, a famous bard. Mr. Prichard was gifted with a good voice and was well known as a choir director. Most of his life he lived near Bala, but in 1880 he went to Holywell and became a loom-tender's assistant at the Welsh Flannel Manufacturing Company's mills.
Prichard wrote a number of hymn tunes. He wrote HYFRYDOL before he was twenty years old. Many of his hymns were included in Welsh periodicals. In 1844 he published Cyfaill y Cantorion (The Singer's Friend), a songbook for children.
