A. Cyril Barham-Gould composed the hymn tune ST. LEONARDS for Kate B. Wilkinson’s text for "May the Mind of Christ My Savior." It was first published together with the hymn in the London children’s hymnbook, Golden Bells, 1925.
St. Leonard, for whom St. Leonards-on-Sea is named, and who is indirectly referred to by the title of this hymn tune, was a French bishop from the fifth century, Leonard of Limosin. He is the patron saint of pregnant women and prisoners of war.
