Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus… Philippians 2:5
As you seek to be a follower of Jesus Christ, consider the following stanzas of this hymn:

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…
Philippians 2:5
As you seek to be a follower of Jesus Christ, consider the following stanzas of this hymn:
"May the mind of Christ…live in me." Jesus said in Mark 12:30:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your strength.
These were no idle words for Christ, He practiced what He preached as no other person has ever done.
"May the Word of God dwell richly in my heart."
As you read these words, recall the attacks of Satan on Jesus after he had been meditating in the desert for 40 days. He fought off Satan’s attack every time by quoting the Word. It is written…Satan was defeated by the Word of God. (See Matthew 4 and Luke 4)
"May the peace of God…rule my life in everything."
Peace: not the absence of conflict—unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until we see Jesus for this.
Not a bed of roses without thorns—for Jesus assured His disciples that:
In this world you will have trouble. John 16:33But Jesus does promise peace under pressure and stability when your world is crashing all around you; and a busy life with harmony rather than discord. Remember Jesus’ words:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. John 14:27
May the love of Jesus fill me…"
The word "love" usually means a "great affection for" as in "I really love chocolate ice cream!" Or "I love my job" or "I love you." But there is an even more important definition of love, the one used often in the New Testament:
Seeing a need and meeting it, even if you have no affection for the person in need. Jesus, our perfect example said:
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies…
(and who has great affection for an enemy?)But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death." Colossians 1:21
Christ on the cross: the perfect illustration of love!
Be imitators of God…
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus," Philippians 2:5 challenges us. Kate B. Wilkinson thought on what it means to have the mind of Christ Jesus. To have the mind of Christ is to have Christ with His love "controlling all I do and say". That people seeing me, realize "I triumph only through His power". Mrs. Wilkinson also includes Hebrews 12:1-2 in her hymn: "May I run the race before me…looking unto Jesus". We sing this hymn as a prayer, echoing Mrs. Wilkin...

We sing this hymn as a prayer, echoing Mrs. Wilkinson, as we also desire to be more like Him.
