Welcome to the website of the Center for Church Music. We pray that our site will be helpful to you! On September 9, 2012, we celebrated the ninth anniversary of the site. We are a small organization, but we hope that you'll check back often as we want you to be a regular part of our website. We frequently add new pages (and hymns) to our site. We want "www.songsandhymns.org" to be an integral part of your day--and bring great glory to God.
On Sunday November 2, 2003 our radio program, the Adoration Songbook, made its debut on Moody Broadcasting Network--so soon both the radio program and website will have celebrated their ninth year anniversaries. The program can be heard on many radio stations across the country and even around the world. We have heard from many in foreign countries that listen to our program via the Internet. Needless to say, we are thrilled and encouraged by such news.
The philosophy at the Center is simple: We believe that music, and in particular, singing, is one of the most important of all human activities. The latest scientific findings support what Scripture and 2,000 thousand years of church history have revealed: music, intelligence, and learning are significantly related. That is, singing materially affects our actions.
Therefore, singing's role in church music is vital to the health of the church. (See Ephesians 3:18, 19; Colossians 3:16) What we sing is important! Through an attractive and winsome presentation, we believe that hymns (and Psalms) can again become a centerpiece of a stategy to empower and encourage Christians.
In addition to songs and hymns, we eventually will have an extensive area devoted to church music. Across this country, there are many terrific musicians ministering every Sunday. Utilizing this site as a catalyst for dialogue, we want to again bring great music and great musicians together for the cause of Christ and His church.
Thank you for visiting our site. We pray that God will bless our efforts and that the church--and you!--will be different because of our efforts.
